CONGRATULATIONS!  To Dan Bruce and the 7/8 Band and Chorus who received accolades at the High Note Music Festival held at the Great Escape in Lake George, New York on Friday, May 29th.  The 7/8 Band received a ‘Superior’ and the 7/8 Chorus received an ‘Excellent.’  Let’s give them a hand for a job well done!

LIBRARY BOOKS ARE MIA!  Students were notified that all library books were due back on Friday, May 29th.  There continues to be over 400 books that have not yet been returned, therefore, please have your student search in the farthest nooks and crannies from under their beds to their backpacks to ensure these library books find their way back to PAML.

BOOK GIVE-AWAY:  We are gearing up for another PAML Summer Book Give-Away for our students in grades 5-8 on Monday, June 1st.  It was a great event last year as over 100 students came through and picked out some great books to enjoy over the summer.  Students will be encouraged to visit the Learning Center throughout the day to find some books of interest to them.  We are continuing to seek donations of books that are in good condition and are appropriate for students in grades 5-8.  Should you have books you wish to donate, they can be dropped off at the PAML Office no later than Monday morning, June 1st.  Our students thank you!

6TH GRADE FIELD TRIP:  Sixth graders will spend their end-of-year field trip swimming and splashing together at The Pumphouse Waterpark at Jay Peak on Wednesday, June 3rd.  Students will depart on a bus from PAML at 8:15am and will return at 2:30pm.

8TH GRADE FIELD TRIP:  Eighth graders will enjoy their end-of-year field trip in Burlington on Wednesday, June 3rd with lunch on the Spirit of Ethan Allen, shopping on the Marketplace and a movie at the Majestic 10 to wrap up the day.  The bus will depart PAML at 9:00am and return to PAML at approximately 7:00pm.

MAKER’S FAIR:  Seventh grade students have been busy making never-seen-before and one-of-a-kind inventions which will be on display for parents/guardians at the Maker’s Fair on Thursday, June 4th from 9:00-11:00am in the cafeteria.  Come see their amazing creations!

INCOMING 5TH GRADE PARENT INFORMATIONAL MEETING:  All parents/guardians of present 4th graders who will be entering the 5th grade at PAML are encouraged to attend this meeting on Thursday, June 4th from 6:00-7:00pm in the cafeteria.  As a reminder, please bring in with you and your incoming 5th grade student their PAML 5th Grade Expert Selection Form that is coming home in their ‘Friday Folder’ today.

MULTI-CULTURAL SPRING FLING:  PAML students will enjoy a day of fun-filled activities on Friday, June 5th from 8:30am-2:40pm with activities to include a Taiko drumming performance, soccer tournament, and a picnic lunch.  Several guest speakers will present and work with students on topics such as calligraphy, pinata making, face painting, friendship bracelets, Asian martial arts, yoga, and fan dancing to name just a few.  

iPAD COLLECTION DAY:  iPads and all iPad accessories assigned to students will be collected from PAML students on Monday, June 8th.  Please ensure that your student(s) bring the items listed below to school on Monday for a timely return of iPad equipment.  Should any of the equipment items listed below not be returned, please send in a check made payable to ‘PAML’ to cover the cost noted below of lost iPads and/or iPad equipment with your students on June 8th.  These funds will be used to purchase replacements:

STEP-UP DAY FOR 4TH GRADERS:  Fourth graders will visit PAML on Tuesday, June 9th, from 8:30-10:00am to familiarize themselves with the 5th grade classrooms, schedules, and other locations in the school they will be involved in using when they become a PAML student this August.

LAST CHAPEL FOR 8TH GRADERS:  Last Chapel will be held on Tuesday, June 9th, at 12:45pm in the gymnasium.  Following Last Chapel, eighth grade parents will join their student in the cafeteria at 2:30pm to meet with Phil Grant, PA High School Principal.

6TH GRADE PORTFOLIO SHOWCASE:  Sixth grade students have worked hard this year on his/her portfolio in the form of a Google site.  This portfolio showcases a personal and academic goal as well as reflections and evidence of student work.  PAML would like to extend an invitation to families and community members to see the hard work your student has put in this year at a ‘Portfolio Showcase’ in a gallery walk format in the 6th grade classrooms to be held on Wednesday, June 10th, beginning at 8:45am.  Following the ‘Portfolio Showcase,’ 6th grade teachers and students will host a light buffet breakfast at 9:30am.  If you would be able to provide a breakfast item to share in the classroom, that would be wonderful!  We can’t think of a nicer final day with this amazing group of students!

8TH GRADERS DISMISSED FOR SUMMER RECESS FOLLOWING LAST CHAPEL:  Eighth graders are not required to come to school on Wednesday, June 10th.  Summer recess for 8th graders officially starts following Last Chapel on Tuesday, June 9th.  

STUDENT DISMISSAL ON JUNE 10TH:  Students will be dismissed for summer recess on Wednesday, June 10th at 11:20am.

CHORUS FIELD TRIP:  On Wednesday, May 27th, Mrs. Beckley will take the 7/8 Chorus students to Copley Hospital for patients to enjoy the students’ choral ensembles..  


MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY:  There will be no school on Monday, May 25th, in observance of the Memorial Day federal holiday.


DR. PHIL KIELY WITH 8TH GRADERS:  On Tuesday, May 26th, Dr. Kiely, of Morrisville Family Health Care, will speak with the 8th graders about the physical and emotional changes that students are/will be experiencing, and how to healthily and safely navigate through these changes. 

CAMP KEEWAYDIN:  Fifth graders will be attending Camp Keewaydin May 26th-29th.  Students depart from PAML on Tuesday, May 26th at 8:30am and return to PAML on Friday, May 29th at 2:30pm.  Please ensure your 5th grade student has packed warm clothes, boots and rain gear in case of inclement weather.


MAPLE LEAF PROJECT:  Sixth grade students will be participating in the Maple Leaf Project May 27th-29th where they will spend time each morning at local businesses learning about how they are run, daily routine, etc.  Be sure to ask your 6th grader about their experience!


PAmazing RACE:  Eighth graders will participate in a fun-filled afternoon of outside activities on Thursday, May 28th as these students attempt to out-wit, out-play, out-think and out-do their fellow students on the field!


High Note Music Festival at Great Escape in Lake George, NY:  On Friday, May 29th, Mr. Bruce will be taking the 7/8 Band and 7/8 Chorus to participate in this annual music festival.  Students will depart from PAML at 7:00am and will return back to PAML early evening.

NECAP TESTING THIS WEEK:  All 8th graders will be administered the NECAP (New England Common Assessment Program) Science Test this week for three days in the morning on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday (May 19, 20, 21).  Please ensure your student gets plenty of rest and eats a nutritious breakfast each day to prepare them for testing each morning of the preceding dates listed.

CHORUS FIELD TRIPS:  Mrs. Beckley will take all middle level Chorus students to Copley Manor to sing for residents on Wednesday, May 20th.  On Tuesday, May 26th, the 7/8 Chorus students will go to Copley Hospital and sing for their patients.  

SAVE THE DATE!  Memorial Day Observance will be held on Friday, May 22nd, at 10:00am at the bandshell.  In case of inclement weather, please proceed to the gymnasium.  

PAML DANCE:  The last PAML dance for this school year will be held on Friday, May 22nd, 7:00-9:30pm, in the cafeteria.

AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION ‘KAN JAM’ FUNDRAISER:  Students, faculty and staff will be participating together on Friday afternoon, May 22nd, for fun activities outside on the athletic fields to support this great cause.  The recommended donation is $10 per student but all donations will be greatly appreciated and will go directly to our local chapter of the American Heart Association.  If your child brings in a check, please make it payable to ‘PAML’.  Donations are due in to Mr. Maynard by Friday, May 22nd.  All participants and spectators are encouraged to wear red on event day.

TERM 7 EXPO AND EXPERT CLASSES:  New Expo and Expert classes begin on Monday, May 11th.

COMPOSTING FIELD TRIP:  Mrs. Clark will be taking her class to the Hyde Park transfer station Friday afternoon, May 22nd, to learn about recycling and composting.

MUSIC FESTIVAL FOR SELECTED 7/8 BAND STUDENTS:  On Friday, May 15th, Dan Bruce, Band/Music teacher, will be traveling to Springfield, Massachusetts with selected 7/8 Band students.  The bus will depart PAML at 6:00am and will return to PAML at approximately 9:00pm.

REMINDER:  NECAP Science testing will occur for 8th grade science students May 19th - 21st.
