January 2nd, 2015

PAML Classes Resume:  Monday, January 5th at 8:00am.

Unbound Info:  Homework Club will resume on Monday, January 12th and the Library will be open afternoons beginning on Monday, January 12th until the Unbound program gets under way.

PAML Dance!  A PAML dance will be held on Friday, January 16th, 7:00 - 9:30pm, in the cafeteria.  If you would like to chaperone a PAML dance, please let Linny Curtis know by calling 888-1401.

January Reminder:  There will be no school on Monday, January 19th, in observance of Martin Luther King Day.  The teachers will be holding LSSU-wide in-service in Stowe that day.

Term 4 Expo & Expert Classes:  The Term 4 Expo and Expert classes start on Monday, December 22nd.  Initiate a conversation by asking your student(s) questions about their new Expo and Expert classes, and ask them to explain to you what their activities are in each class.  

Jessica Dambach:  We are excited to announce that Jessica Dambach will be joining our staff full-time on January 5, 2014.  Jessica will be our new school Guidance Counselor.  Please join us in welcoming her to the PAML community.

Unbound Info:  Unbound ends on Friday, December 19th and does not start up again until January 20th.  On Monday and Tuesday, December 22nd and 23rd, the only after-school Unbound is the library which will be open until 4:00pm on Monday and 5:00pm on Tuesday.  Homework Club will start up again on January 12th and the library will be open afternoons until Unbound gets underway.

December Recess:  The last day of school before December break is Tuesday, December 23rd.  Students will return to school on Monday, January 5th.

Winter Safety:  Should your student(s) walk to school or if you drop them off before 7:30am, please note there is no indoor/outdoor school supervision prior to this time.  Although the snow presents a fun setting for playing outside, we ask that students be reminded to remain safely out of the way of snow removal equipment on the sidewalks and in the parking lots.


PAML Winter EXPOsition:  Wednesday, December 17th at 6:30pm in the gymnasium.  Come to hear the concert put on by our bands and choruses followed by an exhibition of spectacular student work thus far in EXPO classes.

5th Graders Ski & Ride Free!  To help get our youth to the hills, Ski Vermont - Fifth Grade Passport is offering participating fifth graders up to 88 free days of skiing and riding at Vermont’s Alpine and Nordic resorts.  Check out Ski Vermont (http://skivermont.com/fifth-grade-passport) to find out how to apply for a Fifth Grade Passport.

Early Release:  Students will be released from school at 12 Noon on Tuesday, December 9th as teachers use that afternoon time to score On-Demand Writing Prompt (ODWP) assessments.

Camp Keewaydin Parent Meeting:  Fifth grade parents are invited to attend this initial planning meeting with the 5th grade teachers (Ms. Emerson, Ms. Lindsey and Mrs. Ludington) in Ms. Emerson’s 5th grade classroom on Thursday evening, December 11th from 5:30-6:30pm.  Agenda topics will include the Keewaydin experience and starting the Keewaydin Fundraising Committee.

PAML ‘TRY’ Teams:  On Thursday, December 4th both PAML ‘TRY’ Teams in grades 6 and 8 will be at the Green Mountain Tech Center for an all-day training on how to set up an effective recycling program.  

22nd Annual International Festival:  On Friday, December 5th the 6th grade team will be attending this festival at the Champlain Valley Exposition in Essex Junction.  This all-day celebration of cultures around the world includes dance demonstrations, craft examples, music and much, much more.

Progress Reports:  PAML progress reports will be available on PowerSchool December 5th.  If you have not already obtained parent and student PowerSchool login information to access progress reports and other valuable information regarding your student, please e-mail Linny Curtis (linny.curtis@lssuvt.org) or come in to the PAML Office in person to acquire this information.

Lost & Found!  Has your student lost or misplaced an article of clothing, a lunch bag, water bottle, etc.?  If so,  steer them in the direction of the big yellow bin located in the cafeteria where such items have been collected for students to re-claim.
